Danaher Motion Debuts at NMW
Danaher Corp.
Simsbury, Conn .-Announced on February 20, ‘Danaher Motion’ becomes the new name of several motion control companies of Danaher Corp. (Washington, D.C.). The new entity will make its debut at National Manufacturing Week (NMW) in Chicago, March 5-8, according to Thomas S. Gross, Danaher’s group executive, Motion Control.
Danaher Motion consists of recently acquired API Motion, Inmotion Technologies (formerly known as Atlas Copco Controls), Kollmorgen, Superior Electric, and Warner Motion-plus Pacific Scientific, acquired in 1998. Motion control represents a fourfold growth of business for Danaher Corp. in the last two years.
Four market-aligned business groups will make up Danaher Motion, reflecting customer and application needs. Their product and coverage areas line up as:
General Purpose Systems -motion control hardware and software for a broad base of applications;
Motion Components Group -specialty motors and mechanical/electro-mechanical linear and rotary motion products sold in conjunction with an overall motion application;
Precision Systems Group -completely integrated, multi-axis precision positioning systems and subsystems; and
Special Purpose Systems -customized hardware/software solutions for high volume, specialized motion applications.
Mr. Gross notes that ‘individual cultures and brand identities’ of the companies will remain in place, although they are grouped to provide tailored solutions. All companies in the group will pursue quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness to customers, using uniform principles and tools of the Danaher Business System throughout their business processes, he states.
‘Danaher views Danaher Motion as a strategic business platform for the company in the high growth, multi-billion dollar precision motion industry,’ says Mr. Gross.
Exhibits of motor, drive, and motion control products from Danaher Motion will be located in booth 6933 at the NMW show in the South Hall of McCormick Place.
