Portland, ME– Kepware Technologies announced today the release of its latest KEPServerEX OPC server suite, which includes a new plug-in component to easily log OPC items and tags to Access, Microsoft SQL, MySQL and other ODBC compliant databases.
The Kepware Data Logger component is a plug-in to KEPServerEX that allows customers who have standardized on KEPServerEX to seamlessly log data from existing KEPServerEX PLC drivers into their ODBC compliant database of choice. Product highlights include:
* Powerful expression triggers configured via wizards
* Scalability through support of multiple concurrent logging processes (threads)
* Automatic table creation and the ability to append data to an existing table
* Error recovery: auto reconnect if a DSN connection is lost
* Runtime monitoring and control of data logging operations from OPC clients
According to Todd Stanier, engineering services manager of Yokogawa Corporation of Ameri ca’s Network Solutions Division, “The simplicity of the Data Logger component in KEPServerEX is impressive.
Kepware specializes in OPC and device communication technologies for the industrial automation market. Open DataBase Connectivity (ODBC) is a standards-based method of accessing data in databases via a common application-programming interface (API). ODBC interfaces can be developed in many programming languages and ODBC interoperability is independent of operating systems. Due to its flexibility and proven interoperability, ODBC has become a common methodology in many industrial automation applications. Like OPC, it offers an open and reliable way to share data between applications and systems.
