Digi releases single-port device servers; files lawsuit

Digi International launched July 11 its Digi One product line, which the firm says includes the smallest embedded device server and the first to support powered Ethernet standard. The company adds its new line meets growing demand for single-port device servers. In related news, the company announced July 10 that it filed a patent infringement lawsuit on July 3 against Lantronix (Irvine, Calif.) in Federal District Court in Minnesota. The suit alleges that Lantronix contributes to and induces infringement of a U.S. patent issued to Digi relating to network control of device servers. In its lawsuit, Digi seeks to prohibit Lantronix from manufacture and sale of infringing products without royalty payments. In response, Lantronix stated on July 11 that, “Lantronix believes that it has meritorious defenses to Digi’s lawsuit, and will vigorously defend its position in the appropriate venue. Lantronix further believes that the claims or any litigation arising from them will have no material impact on Lantronix or its business.”
