Digital manufacturing standards meeting

The Electronic Commerce Code Management Association (ECCMA) is holding an industry day focusing on standards in digital manufacturing with advice and tips on how to successfully use digital manufacturing.

The Electronic Commerce Code Management Association (ECCMA) is holding an industry day on Oct. 21, 2015. in Baltimore. The industry day is part of the 70th ISO TC 184/SC 4 meeting, which is held from Oct. 18-23. The educational event will focus on standards in digital manufacturing and consists of three sessions with industry experts providing advice and tips on how to successfully use digital manufacturing.

Session 1 focuses on the advantages of using digital models for manufacturing. The session will focus on how models make machining more efficient and how robots can replace CNC machines because of their flexibility on the plant floor.

Session 2 describes applications enabled by digital manufacturing models. The session will focus on tooling optimization, process monitoring, virtual CMM, just-in-time simulation, and advanced machining.

Session 3 focuses on how to contribute to the deployment of digital manufacturing using the 5M’s: Make, machine, monitor, measure, and modify.
