EC: Siemens Simatic ET 200pro Fail Safe Controller

Safety controller: Siemens Industry Simatic ET 200pro Fail Safe Controller. The Simatic ET 200pro Fail Safe Controller is the industry first Machine-Mount safety certified programmable controller rated for IP67 installation eliminating the need for mounting in a traditional electrical enclosure. This is a Control Engineering 2011 Engineers' Choice (EC) Award winner.

The Simatic ET 200pro Fail Safe Controller is a safety certified programmable controller designed for industrial installation directly on equipment without the need for mounting in an electrical enclosure. Its innovative rugged design is rated for IP67 environments with all the power and communication interfaces using built-in 7/8 in. and M12 sealed connectors protecting it from damaging fluids, gases, or particles. The combination of its rugged external design and safety certified control functionality make the ET 200pro Fail Safe Controller the industry first in its class capable of safety automation tasks in a machine-mount form factor. The ET 200pro Fail Safe Controller supports the complete Siemens S7 Distributed Safety controller functions certified by the TUV, a NRTL National Recognized Testing Laboratory. These functions include common machine safety configurations for fail-safe emergency stop, guard door operation, and safe start and stop motor control functions. The controller also meets the safety requirements according to international standards including EN 954-1 up to Cat. 4, IEC 62061 up to SIL 3, and EN ISO 13849-1 up to PL e.

The ET 200pro Fail Safe Controller includes both a built-in Profibus DP port and three Profinet / Ethernet interfaces for easy networking and configuration to other industrial fieldbus and Ethernet devices. Its CPU includes 512 KB RAM extended onboard memory and supports the complete family of ET 200pro I/O and motor control modules for controlling both simple and complex discrete systems. Additional new Profinet protocol supported features include SharedDevice, iDevice and MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol). These unique Profinet capabilities enable the controller to either share connected I/O with another controller, or assume responsibility of I/O from another controller all within an Ethernet Redundant Ring architecture. This type of configuration eliminates traditional issues when integrating multiple controller and I/O networks reducing the engineering effort, additional hardware costs and the amount of hardwired connections.
