EC: SVR-PL Series ultra-wide temperature ac power line regulator
Power – Energy, power protection: The SVR-PL ultra-wide temperature ac power line regulator from Falcon Electric provides clean, regulated, sinewave output power in harsh temperature environments. This is a Control Engineering 2012 Engineers’ Choice honorable mention.
Designed to operate from -22 to +149 F (-30 to 65 C), the UL-listed SVR-PL rackmount and tower configured ac line regulators from Falcon Electric are ideal for use in variable high and low temperature applications where maintaining a constant temperature is required. The SVR-PL Series delivers the highest level of protection against a wide spectrum of power problems compared to the typical power conditioner that relies on a tap-switching transformer to crudely regulate the output voltage.
Due to the unit’s flexible design platform, the SVR-PL can be configured as a frequency converter for worldwide power applications. Accepting a 50/60 Hz input and providing a fixed 60 Hz or 50 Hz output, the SVR-PL supplies a tightly regulated output of ±2% and excellent extended brownout protection. In addition, optional batteries may be installed inside the SVR-PL that were specifically selected due to their ultra-wide operational temperature range of -40 to 176 F (-40 to 80 C), far in excess of the maximum 149 F SVR-PL specification. The batteries have a 10-year service life rating when operated in a normal ambient temperature environment of 72 F. The SVR-PL is equipped with an NFPA-70, NEC 645-11 compliant Remote Emergency Power Off (REPO) interface assuring easy integration. Remote output receptacle control is an option to REPO, allowing the load segment outlets to be remotely controlled using a wire-connected remote switch.
