Eight-pole actuator/sensor connector range provides high contact density

Belden's eight-pole M8 actuator/sensor connector range fulfill requirements for shock and vibration resistance and provide up to eight signals of transmission with an external power supply.

Belden has introduced an eight-pole M8 actuator/sensor connector range. These connectors fulfill all requirements for shock and vibration resistance and come in two variants, molded cables and receptacles, according to Belden. All variants have a temperature range of -25°C to +80°C and are IP 67 rated when connected to their mating parts. These connectors provide high contact density – providing up to eight signals of transmission with an external power supply. The new eight-pole M8 actuator/sensor connectors are especially suitable for connecting optoelectronic sensors or safety switches typically found on monitoring safety doors machines and systems.

The single-ended molded connectors connect sensors or actuators to switch cabinets or distribution boxes and have an open cable end, which insures a high degree of flexibility in terms of wiring. The male connector (RSM 8-354/0.3 M) has a snap-in/threaded joint and the female connector (RKMV 8-354/2 M) has a self-locking threaded joint. Both molded bodies are made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The cordsets, which are available in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or halogen-free polyurethane (PUR), have a cross-section of 0.25 mm2 and are available in 2-, 5- or 10-meter lengths. Other materials, cross sections and lengths are available upon request.

The receptacle connector RSMF 8/0.5 M has stranded wires, solder contacts, and a potted housing. These receptacles are ideally suited for use in switch cabinets or other machinery equipment.  Conversely, the RSMEDG 8 is ideally suited for installation in sensors and is easy to install by means of a snap-in/threaded joint. An additional plug insert (RSEM 8) is available for various sensor housings that already have an M8 thread and/or snap-in joint. The housings of receptacle connectors are made of nickel-plated brass (RSMF 8/0.5 M and RSMEDG 8) or polyamide (RSEM 8).
