Electromechanical Relay Consumption

By Control Engineering Staff August 27, 2002

Consumption of printed-circuit-board, electromechanical relays of all ratings classes is projected to increase at an above-average 2.8% compound annual growth rate from more than $4.7 billion in 2000 to close to $5.7 billion in 2005, according to ‘2001 Global Relay Market Intelligence Service’ by Venture Development Corp. (Natick, Mass.). This growth is attributed to increased use of relays in high-growth applications, such as automotive and appliances. Solid-state relays with contact current ratings less than or equal to 5 A are also expected to increase at above-average rates during this period due to price decreases and growing use.
