Embedded device server in an RJ-45 package
Lantronix Inc.'s new XPort Embedded Device Server is a complete networking solution enclosed in a RJ-45 package. Lantronix Inc.’s new XPort Embedded Device Server is a complete networking solution enclosed in a RJ-45 package. Smaller than the average person’s thumb, XPort reportedly allows OEMs to build networking capabilities into their products faster and more easily by reducing typical internal development cycles for adding networking from six to nine months down to as little as 60 days.
To eliminate the complexity of creating a network-enabling solution, XPort provides an integrated approach that includes a 10Base-T/100Base-TX Ethernet connection; a reliable, proven operating system; an embedded Web server; flexible firmware; a TCP/IP protocol stack; e-mail alerts; and optional 128-bit standards-based (AES) encryption.
Geoffrey Boyce, Lantronix’s executive marketing VP, says XPort addresses the classic make-versus-buy question that all manufacturers must face when adding networking capabilities. “Manufacturers don’t need to spend upwards of 48 ‘person-months’ and hundreds of thousands of dollars in development time to become experts on Ethernet and write an IP stack. We have taken the complexity out of developing a network-enabling solution and made it simple by doing it for them,” says Boyce. www.lantronix.com
