Emerson Process awarded contract to deliver instrumentation and control solutions for Esso Angola project

Austin, Tex. - Emerson Process Management was recently awarded a contract from Esso Exploration Angola Limited, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Corporation (Irving, Tex.), to develop and install the control, instrumentation and safety systems needed by Esso Angola for the Kizomba A project offshore Angola Africa.

Austin, Tex. – Emerson Process Management was recently awarded a contract from Esso Exploration Angola Limited, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Corporation (Irving, Tex.), to develop and install the control, instrumentation and safety systems needed by Esso Angola for the Kizomba A project offshore Angola Africa.

Emerson will be the main instrument and controls contractor for the first Esso Angola (Block 15) offshore oil project. Under the projects main instrumentation and controls contract; process, instrumentation, and control responsibility has been assigned to Emerson Process Management who will lead control and safety system detailed design, engineering services, procurement, integration, testing, startup, and commissioning of field devices from Emerson companies as well as devices from other suppliers.

Key elements of the Kizomba A project include a:

Floating production storage and offloading vessel. The vessel will be approximately 1,000 ft.(305 m.) long, equipped with a gas turbine power source, production facilities and utilities, and is capable of storing over 2 million barrels of processed crude oil;

Surface wellhead platform and related facilities;

Offloading buoy for transferring processed crude to shuttle tankers; and

Subsea production system with interconnecting umbilicals, risers, and flow lines.
