Endress+Hauser (E+H), a Swiss-based manufacturer of measurement instrumentation and automation solutions, has expanded its flowmeter instrumentation plant in Greenwood, Indiana. The company invested more than $18 million in new production and calibration facilities for production of primarily magnetic and Coriolis designs.
At a time many manufacturers are moving production to other countries, E+H’s new flow manufacturing facility is dedicated to the manufacture and calibration of flow-meters. “We believe in expanding our production sites around the globe to be closer to our customers all around the world,” said Klaus Endress, CEO of the E+H Group, “We see this expansion as part of our sustainable growth strategy.”
“This expansion of the company’s U.S. division demonstrates Endress+Hauser’s complete commitment to the North American market and its loyal customers,” said Dr. Gerhard Jost, managing director of E+H Flowtec AG, the group’s specialists for flow measurement engineering.
The facility is entirely purpose built to manufacture specific segments of the company’s product lines. In a tour for visitors and press, it was clear that the production lines have been carefully thought out and configured for smooth workflow, combining automated and human workstations. The production floor is positioned above pumps and flow control equipment on the lower level to provide sufficient water flow to test and calibrate each unit leaving the plant, up to the largest sizes.
“We have a new facility dedicated to the manufacturing and calibration of electromagnetic flowmeters where we can produce and calibrate meters with line sizes up to 48 in. We have the largest calibration rig in the U.S. in this facility,” said Hans-Peter Blaser, general manager of E+H Flowtec’s U.S. Division. “This multi-million dollar investment touched our entire flow manufacturing capability, Coriolis, vortex, ultrasonic, and electromagnetic flowmeter production.”
In addition to the large calibration rig in the electromagnetic facility, the Coriolis manufacturing area is equipped with a new state of the art calibration laboratory. Claiming accuracy ofment performance of measuring instruments using water in a test pipeline.
Jost adds that all of the company’s calibration rigs in all the plants around the world are accredited by the appropriate national standards organizations, according to ISO/IEC 17025.
