Offerings from Macraigor Systems LLC at Embedded Systems Conference (ESC)-San Francisco (March 8-10, 2005), will include added capability for the company’s debug software when used with its OCDemon family of products. Debugging and control support applies to several new processor chips in the ARM, MIPS and PowerPC families. Examples of CPUs supported include the ARM946 family, made by various manufacturers for networking and imaging products; Motorola ARM7s, such as MAC7100 for use in automotive controls; IBM PowerPC 405EP/GPR intended for low-cost embedded designs; and Broadcom MIPS64/S32 family.
OCDemon Flash Programmer’s GUI interface handles high-level interaction for debugging and programming the contents of flash connected to the target CPU.
Macraigor Systems provides various debugging tools for programming hardware designs and application software. Target Access is an automated solution useful in manufacturing environments where one setup or debug routine must be run on production hardware for initial startup/upgrades, says the company. OCD Commander , an assembly-level software debugger, provides graphical user interface (GUI) access for manipulating a CPU (run, halt, reset) and its associated registers and memories. OCD Remote is a software package for engineers wanting to debug with the GNU toolset and GNU debugger.
Another software tool, OCDemon Flash Programmer , provides a GUI application for various programming and debugging functions on flash parts. Debugging functionality includes blank checking and checksumming (specific ranges plus the entire contents of flash memory). Programming functionality includes erasing, filling a range with a pattern, programming from a file, and verification against a file. OCD Commander, OCD Remote, and Flash Programmer each can debug on Microsoft Windows and Linux platforms.OCDemon Flash Programmer, Flash Access, and Target Access are available for $500 each, for the first license (incremental licenses are $100 each); OCD Commander and OCD Remote are available at no charge from the Macraigor Web site.
