Exclusive: Digital valve positioner for harsh use
SVI II AP (advanced performance) digital valve-positioner is the latest in a series of enhancements to the SVI II positioner family.
Marine-grade components make new SVI II AP digital valve-positioner from Masoneilan – Dresser Inc. suitable for use in harsh environments.
SVI II AP (advanced performance) digital valve-positioner is the latest in a series of enhancements to the SVI II positioner family. New device retains the philosophies and physics of the existing SVI II positioner, but adds modular construction and marine-grade components to increase ruggedness and durability for use in harsh environments.
A solid-state position sensor accomplishes position sensing. Solid-state design enables greater measurement accuracy and features no moving parts, contactless measurement, and no penetration into the enclosure. Patented onboard control algorithm that positions the valve is said to increase execution speed significantly and provide one-button autotune. SVP II AP reportedly has been tested and qualified by compressor manufacturers for use in anti-surge applications.
Product provides built-in on-line advanced valve-diagnostics. Critical parameters of the positioner and valve are monitored by a variety of pressure, temperature, and motion sensors. Data can be used in real time to determine the valve’s current condition or tracked over time to predict future valve health.
Standard offering meets IEC 61508 SIL 2 requirements out of the box. Modular design meets changing demands by allowing field upgradeability. Available options include an offshore version made of stainless steel, an explosion-proof design, local indicating LCD, pushbuttons for local calibration, and a remote position-sensing mechanism. SVI II AP is certified for use with most distributed control systems, including Emerson, Honeywell, Yokogawa, and those who have registered HART DDs and FTD-DTMs.
