TorqLoc keyless hollow shaft mounting system from SEW-Eurodrive has expanded to include 19 new sizes covering shaft diameters from 3.25-3.75 in. and 80-125 mm.

Lyman, SC —Expanded TorqLoc keyless hollow shaft mounting system from SEW-Eurodrive now fits larger parallel shaft helical and helical bevel gear units. Nineteen new sizes cover shaft diameters from 3.25-3.75 in. and 80-125 mm. They come in electroless nickel or stainless steel for harsh environments.

Patented TorqLoc system is designed to reduce costs for machine construction and downtime for factory maintenance. It is based on interchangeable bushings that accommodate different shaft diameters, eliminating the need to cut keyways or turn the solid shaft to exacting tolerances. Benefits of the system reportedly include reducing the cost of building machines for OEMs and of component replacement for end-users. The keyless system also reportedly makes it easier to remove the gear unit for maintenance.

Features of the system include:

Dimensionally compact, allowing for mounting locations close to bearing or machine frames;

A design that provides support of the hollow shaft reducer on the solid shaft while delivering maximum torque and shock load capability; and

Ability to remove the gear reducer after years of service.
