Expert advice: Schneider Electric opens development lab for automation vendors
Schneider Electric hopes to spur smoother development of advanced industrial automation and control solutions by establishing a center where original equipment manufacturers (OEM) can collaborate freely with other industry experts.
Schneider Electric hopes to spur smoother development of advanced industrial automation and control solutions by establishing a center where original equipment manufacturers (OEM) can collaborate freely with other industry experts.
Schneider announced the opening of the Raleigh, N.C.-based OEM Technology and Solutions Center (OEM TASC) October 25.
“The opening of the OEM TASC is a continuation of Schneider Electric’s objective to provide expert resources and greater service and support to its customers,” says Ian Hitchins, director of the center, which is part of the Schneider Electric North American Operating Division.
The center’s primary mission is

“OEMs need specialists in their particular machine application areas—experts who can talk their language and that of their customers, and who can understand the solutions needed,” Hitchins said. “We believe using the OEM TASC to design and develop total packaged systems ensures OEMs an efficient process to deliver productive and effective solutions to customers.”
When necessary, the OEM TASC will pull resources from within Schneider Electric companies and partners, both locally and globally, to provide further expertise and customer support.
Hitchins says Schneider created the center because it realizes that OEMs face an increasing need to differentiate themselves and be more than just
