Berlin, Germany -Incremental encoders for tough environments include line drivers with power transistors capable of sending square-wave signals through long cables where capacitance is in the nF range. This becomes particularly important for high-voltage transistor logic (HTL) signals with levels up to 30 V. And with electromagnetic interference present, fiber-optic links become necessary. HEAG 171 transmitter modules for transistor-transistor logic (TTL) inputs and HEAG 172 (for HTL inputs) convert incremental encoder signals into light pulses sent through optical fibers to HEAG 173 (TTL outputs) or HEAG 174 (HTL outputs) receiver modules for conversion back to electric signals. Benefits are electrical isolation between widely separated circuits and simultaneous conversion of the logic type between input and output.
