Austin, TX —
Fieldbus Foundation
has released two new specifications, a FOUNDATION fieldbus H1 cable test specification and another for temperature transducer blocks that will enable automation equipment suppliers.
The cable test specification includes test cases providing assurance to automation users that their wiring systems are suitable for fieldbus system operations. The H1 Cable Test Specification (Document FF-844) is designed for manufacturers developing cables for FOUNDATION fieldbus H1 (31.25 kbit/s) installations.
The specification test cases, based upon the IEC 61158-2:2003 standard, include impedance, capacitive unbalance, connector pin-outs, and attenuation. Cable manufacturers can submit test reports to Fieldbus Foundation, which will initiate a cable registration process in the near future. Fieldbus Foundation manager-Fieldbus products, Stephen Mitschke, said, “The Fieldbus Foundation is helping to ensure robust and reliable fieldbus physical layer performance with the release of this new H1 cable specification.
Also available is a specification for temperature transducer blocks that will enable automation equipment suppliers to improve diagnostics, interoperability, and reliability of registered, FOUNDATION-compliant products.
The Temperature Transducer Block Specification (Document FF-904) describes the FOUNDATION fieldbus standard temperature and calibration transducer block.erature Transducer Block specification, end users can have even greater confidence when implementing FOUNDATION fieldbus systems. The new specification demonstrates the continued commitment of the Fieldbus Foundation to bolster its technology infrastructure for the benefit of the industrial automation market.
Additionally, this profile brings the foundation a step closer to meeting requirements outlined by NAMUR, the German Chemical Industry End User association, as published in their requirements document, NE107.
