Everett, WA— To enable fast, safe, accurate measurements on many substances and surfaces, Fluke has released three new models of its 60 series infrared thermometers. Fluke’s 63, 66, and 68 IR thermometers feature pistol grips and a single-dot laser sighting system. They also have an intuitive user interface, ergonomic design, and single-trigger activation. When the trigger is depressed and held down, the laser illuminates, and temperature readings are continuously updated and displayed on the backlit LCD screen. Built to withstand harsh field use and three foot drops, 60 series IR thermometers are equipped with tripod mounting and a splash- and dust-resistant carrying case.
These non-contact thermometers are designed to meet the needs of electrical, plant/facility maintenance, HVAC/R, and automotive technicians. Jim Shields, Fluke’s process tools product manager, says users can efficiently, safely, and quickly take temperature readings of rotating, electrically live, dangerously hot, or hard-to-reach objects ‘without jumping through fire.’ By quickly locating potential blockages or malfunctioning systems, these thermometers can help prevent catastrophic interruptions and reduce the chance of system failures.
Possible applications include maintenance/technician walkthroughs, troubleshooting steam traps, performing room balance checks, evaluating electrical connections, and diagnosing catalytic converters. ‘There is no definition of where this tool can or can’t be used,’ adds Shields.
Distant-to-spot ratios, which is how far away a non-contact device can accurately measure a target area, vary among the three thermometers. Entry-level Model 63 has a 12:1 ratio; Model 66’s ratio is 30:1; and Model 68’s ratio is 50:1.
Models 66 and 68’s other feature include:
12-point data logging;
Selectable Max, Min, Dif and Avg functions that display values instantly with a hi/lo alarm;
Optional accessories include a holster and RTD temperature probe;
Measures temperatures up to 760 °C (1,400 °F); and
Adjustable emissivity for more accurate temperature measurements.
