Unik 5000, a unique pressure sensing platform from GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies, has a modular design allowing users to customize pressure measurement parameters to cost effectively meet application requirements. Pressure is one of the most measured parameters in an industrial setting where stability and reliability are critical.
Unik 5000 pressure sensors from GE Sensing are constructed from high-grade stainless steel, and are compliant with international and regional certification bodies.
The flexibility, stability and reliability of Unik 5000 can satisfy the majority of user requirements and is available within a short lead-time, resulting in increased productivity, the company says. Typical applications include oil & gas, automotive, aerospace and power generation sectors, as well as in test equipment, pneumatics/hydraulics and the process industries.
“We can now custom-build pressure sensors from standard components, matching accuracy and specification to meet individual requirements,” said Ian Abbot, product manager at GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies. “In addition, we can now offer extremely fast delivery of these pressure sensing solutions.”
Field-proven Druck silicon technology is at the heart of the new platform, resulting in a range of high quality piezo-resistive pressure sensors, which are rugged and stable, Abbot says. High levels of performance have been achieved without the use of digital electronics, so that the sensors are well suited to sensitive applications such as those requiring low power, low noise pulse power, and fast response. Unik 5000 sensors are available with pressure ranges from 1.5 pounds per square in. (psi) to 10,000 psi. Three grades of performance (industrial, improved, and premium), offer accuracies from 0.2% to 0.04%. Many pressure fittings are available, and electrical connectors may be selected to suit most environments with operating temperature ranges up to -55° to 125° C. Eight electronics boards provide a choice of outputs suitable for most applications. An isolated and configurable option is available for a customer-specified voltage output.
