Plainville, Conn. – December 11, 2001 – Connecticut-based fluid sensor manufacturer, Gems Sensors Inc. announced today the acquisition of Setra Systems, Inc. (Boxborough, Mass.), designers and manufacturers of capacitance pressure transducers and related devices. Setra’s manufacturing and complete service operations will remain as a separate entity in Boxborough, Mass.

According to Steve Breitzka, president, Gems Sensors. ‘Setra’s capacitance technology product platform and low pressure focus make it a natural complement to Gems’ transducer product line. This acquisition greatly enhances our collective ability to meet both the needs of target markets as well as the general OEM and end-user markets we presently serve.’ Gems Sensors designs, manufactures, and markets what is said to be the industry’s largest selection of liquid level, flow, and pressure sensors and controls available from a single source.
