HIMA expands its process industry safety presence with new U.S. office
In an effort to gain a stronger presence in U.S., HIMA has opened a new office in Houston, TX, to support a marketing push into the energy and petroleum industries. Based in Germany with offices and agents worldwide, HIMA designs and builds safety system technology for process industries.
The company expresses pride in its track record of building safety technology for process industries, in addition to more conventional factory automation systems. Since 1966, HIMA has more than 18,000 installations worldwide, which, the company says, is more than all other safety system companies combined.
“Automation processes in the energy and petrochemical industries are generally highly complex and have many potential hazards. They must also operate without interruption of they are to be cost effective,” says Sven Grone, president of HIMA in the Americas. “HIMA designs hardware with these and other factors in mind to make sure our solutions deliver the optimum combination of safety and availability.”
All HIMA systems are TUV-certified and deliver Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 compliance using technologies in keeping with IEC 61511 and ISA SP84.01 standards. Their systems reportedly are compatible with process control systems from all major manufacturers. HIMA is independently owned and retains all facets of its business in-house.
The Houston office will service all activities in North and South America, including sales, field service, and technical support, with a staff of engineers, sales people, and management. They will work in cooperation with established regional partners in Sao Paolo, Caracas, Bogota, Mexico City, and Calgary.
