HMI at ISA Expo: Iconics marks 20th anniversary with new patents

ISA Expo 2006 was the setting for a number of announcements from Iconics , the automation, manufacturing, and HMI/SCADA visualization software developer. Marking the firm’s 20th year of providing Web-enabled, OPC-based HMI/SCADA software, company president and CEO Russ Agrusa said, “Iconics is ready for the future and the next wave in technology, including 64-bit computing and integration with Microsoft’s new Vista operating system and Office 12.”

The company also noted the receipt of several new U.S. patents. These include:

Patent 7,017,116, which led to the development of MobileHMI wireless mobile Web telephony software and Pocket Genesis mobile Pocket PC industrial software; and

Patent 7.003,558, which resulted in DataWorX32 data aggregation and redundancy technology.

The new patents join existing patent 6,834,388, which was implemented into ActiveX ToolWorX, Iconics’ OPC-based ActiveX toolkit.

In other news, Iconics announced it was nominated for Microsoft Corp .’s partner of the year award for sales and marketing in ISV/software solutions. Iconics was one of five finalists in the category. More than 1,800 companies entered the competition. The ISV/software solutions award recognizes partners that develop packaged software solutions based on Microsoft technologies.
