Honeywell enters the offline simulation market with the release of UniSim Design Suite R350, the latest component in this family of software and engineering services for plant life cycle support. Based on the latest release of Hysys software, the suite offers steady-state and dynamic simulation, design, performance monitoring, optimization, and business planning for the oil and gas production, gas processing, petroleum refining, and chemical industries.
“Simulation is a highly effective and cost-efficient way for process manufacturers to increase plant profitability,” said Mark Hagen, director Honeywell Process Solutions’ Advanced Solutions. The product lets process manufacturers design, test, and train employees on new processes offline before they are implemented. For example, in the early stages of a project, engineers can evaluate the impact of their design decisions on plant operations, pinpointing potential problems and instabilities and identify appropriate solutions. The software also helps eliminate the need for error-prone manual processes such as data re-entry and transfer.
The software is built from available simulation technologies, including the Hysys modeling, Shadow Plant simulation software, and the Otiss process simulator. Suite includes:
UniSim Operations, which provides simulation to improve operating capabilities and enhance staff skills;
UniSim Optimization, which ensures responsiveness to changes in business demands; and
UniSim Dynamic Engineering Studies Group, a service team that evaluates the impact of process-design changes on future plant performance.
