Barcelona, Spain Hyprotech, a subsidiary of AEA Technology, and KBC Advanced Technologies recently joined to develop a new refinery-simulation solution. KBC’s refinery-wide simulation technology and its Profimatics reactor models will be integrated into HYSYS, Hyprotech’s process simulation suite. HYSYS will be KBC’s preferred modelling framework and will be used in KBC’s Profit Improvement Program (PIP), an integrated series of services that typically help refiners improve day-to-day performance and profit by 50 cents per barrel of processed crude oil. Hyprotech and KBC’s alliance is expected to give refiners more sophisticated tools and models for addressing business problems.
