ICS Triplex buys ISaGRAF technology from AlterSys
Maldon, U.K.—ICS Triplex recently bought the assets and technology of AlterSys, including ISaGRAF, as part of its strategy to broaden its offerings and become an even more essential automation technology supplier.

This transaction continues the repositioning ICS initiated when it previously acquired ABB Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) technology. ICS adds that the strategy it’s implementing also includes plans for further acquisitions.
ISaGRAF is a control software environment that enables the creation of local or distributed control systems. It offers a combination of Virtual Machine, a portable, optimized, platform-independent, robust control engine, and Workbench, an intuitive application development envi-ronment. Workbench provides the international standard IEC61131 control languages, as well as the development environment’s output, selectable as either portable ‘C’ source code or Target Independent Code (TIC).
ISaGRAF runtime is a control engine that meets the definition of “open” control. The runtime code can operate on a wide range of platforms, including Win2000, Embedded Win2000, Linux, WinCE, VxWorks, QNX, etc. ISaGRAF is offered in a range of process control and automation software packages, for use with high performance TMRs, distributed control systems (DCSs) and embedded controllers for PLCs and industrial PCs.
ICS has integrated ISaGRAF software for a number of years, including the development of its IEC-61131 tool set and validators.

More than 220,000 systems around the world benefit from this technology, which required more than $15 million to develop,” says Julien Chouinard, ICS Triplex ISaGRAF’s managing director. “The fast penetration of ISaGRAF, especially with OEMs, required the worldwide support, organization and financial stability that ICS was able to provide. AlterSys’ end-users and OEM customers are reportedly enthusiastic about the significant increase in product support and developments that will result from this transaction.”
