IMTS 2006: Document management system supports expansion
Chicago, IL and Huntsville, AL— A national custom cabinetry manufacturer is deploying a document management system across its enterprise to share information through automated workflows and a secure information repository. Benedettini Cabinetry chose CNG-SAFE (shared access filing environment) from Cabinet NG because the system is able to scan, organize, and retain thousands of documents while enabling secure, automated document workflow. The companies announced the installation at the International Manufacturing Technology Show in Chicago last week.
Benedettini had outgrown its entry-level imaging system and needed an electronic document management system that would support its growth into the distribution market. The company reviewed a number of possibilities, but chose CNG-SAFE because it could organize files into a simple file cabinet architecture that provides “anywhere and anytime” information access to business critical information. The system allows the company’s field sales staff to link remotely to needed documentation at a moment’s notice. Workflow management and tracking capabilities also help give management a clear view of project and personnel performance.
The cabinet manufacturer also plans to add CNG-Books to its operation. The system interfaces seamless with the company’s accounting software, Intuit’s QuickBooks Enterprise Edition. It will give Benedettini an electronic document management system that files documents and enters transaction data into QuickBooks in a single step.
Ken Alexander, vice president of operations for Benedettini, called the system “incredibly fast, and it takes less than five seconds to locate and retrieve any document from any PC in the company.” He added that the paperless operation also has improved productivity.
