More power, speed, and expanded communication capabilities are the enhancements highlighting Allen Bradley’s MicroLogix 1100 family of industrial controllers from Rockwell Automation . The devices are reported to put control, communication, and visualization in one compact system and are suitable for a variety of applications in a multitude of industries.

“Enhancements to communications and the Web server enable customers to share information quickly and cost-effectively across all levels of the enterprise,” said Pete Bell, MicroLogix product marketing manager, Rockwell Automation. Series B MicroLogix 1100 controllers will include an onboard Ethernet Web server with the ability to notify users of production faults via e-mail. The embedded communications port and Web server give users access to control information for real time data sharing with OEM partners, remote maintenance engineers, and personnel throughout the production facility.

An embedded, multipurpose text LCD gives users easy access to basic controller and I/O status information. Changes to data values may be monitored and made directly from the display, helping to eliminate the need for a stand-alone operator interface in many instances. For applications using a 12 V power source, the MicroLogix 1100 DWD controller is available.
