Insertion-style magnetic flowmeter

Provides high accuracy and low cost, especially for large diameter pipes.

McCrometer has released its Marsh Multi-Mag flowmeter, using a multi-electrode sensor packaged in an insertion style configuration suitable for hot-tap installation. This configuration eliminates costly pipe cutting normally required with full-bore meters, allowing installation in tight equipment areas with limited straight-run availability.

The company says the Multi-Mag flowmeter is the only multiple-point-insertable configuration on the market today. That easy installation method makes it particularly cost-effective for large line-size applications. The multi-electrode sensor design compensates for variable water flow profiles, including low-flow conditions. Using multiple electrodes located across the entire sensor body, the device can average flow profiles. This capability eliminates the need for long upstream or downstream straight pipe runs to support accurate measurement.

The device is available in multiple configurations covering line sizes from 4 to 120 in. Accuracy is
