New York, NY— Belden CDT Electronics Division is exhibiting its industrial Ethernet cables in Rockwell Automation’s Partner Pavilion at Interphex 2005 at the Jacob K. Javits Center.

The company reports that its DataTuff twisted-pair copper and TrayOptic fiber-optic industrial Ethernet cables offer rugged construction to deliver optimum performance and lasting reliability in the most demanding industrial applications. The cables are designed to withstand the harsh environments typical in pharmaceutical and chemical processing plants, including exposure to oil and chemicals, temperature variations, abrasion or crushing, and the presence of electromagnetic interference (EMI) or radio frequency interference (RFI).

As a result, Belden says its industrial Ethernet cables ensure superior network performance and maximum uptime by avoiding data transmission errors that can lead to unsafe conditions or interruption of critical industrial automation and control functions. DataTuff cables are verified to meet Cat 5e and Cat6 performance standards. The most recent additions to DataTuff line are:

Belden 7933A is a two-pair, 24 AWG, foil shielded, Category 5e Bonded-Pair cable, which is CMR FT4 rated, features polyolefin insulation, industrial-grade sunlight- and oil-resistant black or teal PVC jacket, and is Ethernet/IP compliant.

Belden 7930A is a four-pair, 24 AWG, unshielded, Category 5e cable, which is CMR FT4 and CMX-outdoor rated, stranded for added flexibility, and features polyolefin insulation, industrial-grade sunlight- and oil-resistant black PVC jacket.

Belden 7922A is a four-pair, 22 AWG, unshielded, Category 5e Bonded-Pair cable, which is PLTC, CMR FT4 and CMX-outdoor rated, features polyolefin insulation, industrial-grade sunlight- and oil-resistant black PVC jacket.

Belden 11700A2 is a four-pair, 24 AWG unshielded, up-jacketed, Category 5e Bonded-Pair cable, which is CMR FT4 and Oil Res I & II rated, features polyolefin insulation, and industrial-grade black or blue PVC outer jacket.

Belden adds that many versions of DataTuff cables offer the added advantage of its patented Bonded-Pair technology. This construction affixes the conductor insulation of the cable pairs along their longitudinal axes to ensure that no performance-robbing gaps can develop between the conductor pairs. In Bonded-Pair UTP cables, the conductor-to-conductor spacing is always uniform, resulting in excellent and consistently reliable electrical performance, even after the rigors of installation. Belden calls this unique capability Installable Performance.

For installations demanding fiber-optic technology with superior durability, Belden adds that its TrayOptic fiber-optic cables have been upgraded to include a water-blocking agent. They also use Laser Certified Fiber (LCF) to handle Gigabit Ethernet light sources and expanded bandwidth requirements. Designed for indoor and outdoor industrial applications, these heavy-duty, all-dielectric, loose-tube fiber-optic cables carry the IEEE 383 flame approval rating.
