Following a self-appraisal and reorganization in February 2002 into two divisions, production and energy management, Invensys plc (London, U.K.) announced May 8 that its Production Management Division (PMD) is being organized into three vertical business units. The first unit is Products and process management solutions for food, beverage, and personal healthcare industries, supported by Invensys’ APV business. The second is Automation, control, and process optimization for hydrocarbon, pulp and paper, power and municipal, and general purpose industries, supported by Esscor, Eurotherm, Foxboro, Pacific Simulation, SimSci, Triconex, Validation Technologies, Walsh Automation, and Wonderware. The third is Enterprise application solutions for industrial enterprises, supported by Avantis and Baan. Leo Quinn, Invensys PMD’s coo, says that each business unit would be divided into two separate organizations, one with a product and support service focus and another focused on performance solutions.
