Two new portable infrared (IR) thermometers from Land Instruments International offer a choice of wired or wireless communications. Cyclops 100 and 100B provide wired RS-232C serial communications, with Model 100B also featuring Bluetooth capability. Benefits of the devices include no contamination, interference, or damage to the process or material. Rugged design makes them suitable for steel, glass, refractory, heat-treatment, and semiconductor applications, among others. The handheld products are said to use the latest digital signal processing techniques to provide fast, reliable, precision readings within a temperature range of 1,022 to 5,432 °F (550 to 3,000 °C). Instruments offer flexible configuration and a simple, language-independent, icon-driven menu system. A bright, backlit external multi-function graphics panel indicates thermometer status and configuration and simultaneous displays of continuous, average, peak, and valley temperatures.
