ISA 2005: Intrinsically safe clamp-on flowmeter
ISXC878 intrinsically safe loop-powered, clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter from GE Sensing requires only 60 mW of power.
Chicago, IL and Billerica, MA —ISXC878 intrinsically safe loop-powered, clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter from GE Sensing is designed to bring the advantages of clamp-on flow metering to classified hazardous areas. Reported features include high accuracy, easy installation, no pressure drop, drift-free performance, and virtually no maintenance.
Device requires just 60 mW of power. The low power consumption is achieved by using ultrasonic transducer technology that requires less excitation energy than conventional transducers while still providing high-performing ultrasonic signals. ISX878 has a low-profile, Type 4X package with a 128 x 64 pixel LCD for viewing flow rate information and a 6-button external keypad for accessing the instrument program and verifying meter diagnostics. Transducers are available to cover pipe size ranges from 1/2-16 in. in dia.
The flowmeter was announced last week in Chicago at ISA 2005. Read more coverage of ISA Expo 2005 on the Web at Control Engineering’s Online Daily News Desk.
