ISA events: YAPfest for young automation professionals; wireless teleconferences
ISA will hold its third annual YAPfest Oct. 14, 2008, in conjunction with ISA Expo at the Reliant Center, Houston, TX. In separate business, ISA announced a regular schedule for ISA100 Factory Automation Study Group.
Research Triangle Park, NC – ISA will hold its third annual YAPfest Oct. 14, 2008, in conjunction with ISA Expo at the Reliant Center, Houston, TX. In separate business, ISA announced a regular schedule for ISA100 Factory Automation Study Group.
YAPfest is a social gathering for young automation professionals and students who study engineering and other automation fields offers free food and beverages; raffles for prizes; musical entertainment; scholarship opportunities; and networking with potential employers.
Asco Numatics will present two scholarship awards
and offer other scholarship opportunities during the event. Attendees will receive a free conference session pass to the exposition for the day and a 50%-off coupon for any ISA book that can be used at the bookstore at ISA Expo.
In the past, the event has attracted more than 200 attendees and has been a vehicle for students and automation professionals to identify employment opportunities and to learn about ISA products, services, and membership.
According to Bernard Penney, ISA director of marketing and communications, “YAPfest highlights ISA’s workforce development efforts, as it brings students and young automation professionals together in a festive environment to learn more about the automation profession.”
Free registration for automation professionals and students, ages 18-30, is available online.
Companies are encouraged to invest in the event by sponsoring food, entertainment, and prizes.
In other news, the ISA100 Factory Automation Study Group has established a regular schedule for bi-weekly teleconferences in alternating time slots to provide the ability for global participation at comfortable hours.
Times listed are for Eastern U.S. (GMT-4)– first Wednesday of each month: 09:00 hours (9 a.m.), and third Wednesday of each month: 21:00 hours (9 p.m.). Meetings will supersede the previous Friday-morning time slot. Dial-in instructions are: US/Canada dial-in: (866) 332-6857; international dial-in number: (770) 790-2259; conference code:9909227#. There is no leader; after the system asks, it will pause, and then resume.
The call agenda will (1) review agenda; (2) review minutes of previous meeting; (3) working session: study group scope (those with assignments should be prepared to share their summaries); and (4) any other business.
