ISA Expo 2006: Combustible, toxic monitors in IR, catalytic bead versions

By Control Engineering Staff October 11, 2006
Model 5100-02-IT combustible gas sensor module from Sierra Monitor features catalytic bead technology and provides interface via 4-20 ma, Modbus RS-485, or proprietary Sentry bus.

Houston, TX and Milpitas, CA —Sierra Monitor will show new IT Series combustible gas sensor modules and two-wire 4501 Series toxic gas sensor modules at ISA Expo 2006. IT Series combustible gas sensor modules are available using either infrared (5100-28-IT) or catalytic bead (5100-02-IT) technology and provide interface via 4-20 mA, Modbus RS-485, or the company’s proprietary Sentry bus. Intelligent modules are said to be designed to provide the due diligence expected in hazardous areas.

Features include long-term calibration interval for reduced maintenance. Catalytic bead version is FM-approved with a 6-mo calibration frequency. An integral LED scrolling, easy-to-read display has a magnet operated menu for showing gas status and providing non-intrusive calibration. Integral alarm relays may be supplemented by higher amperage control relays in the same enclosure.
