Kontron AG reports that it has acquired Dolch Computer Systems Inc. for an undisclosed sum of cash from Siegel-Robert Inc. Dolch will take on Kontron’s name and operate as a business unit of Kontron America Inc. Thomas Sparrvik, Kontron America’s president and CEO, expects Dolch to help Kontron in gas and oil, test and measurement, military, mobile computing, and in embedded computing markets.
Dolch has manufactured rugged notebook computers and multi-slot portable platforms for more than 27 years. Dolch also offers display products that incorporate rugged touchscreen technology, which is protected against shock and vibration, and sealed to survive harsh environments or situations. Kontron produces embedded computer technology, and supplies OEMs, system integrators, and application providers. The company helps users reduce time-to-market and gain a competitive advantage with open computer platforms and systems, single-board computers, human-machine interfaces, and mobile computers.
