SB6432 keyswitches from [E3] Engstler Elektronik Entwicklung GmbH, part of the SA series of RGB-backlit LCD devices, have more than 100 brightness settings per color channel.

Grosswallstadt, Germany— SB6432 keyswitch extends the SA series of RBG-backlit LCD switches from [E3] Engstler Elektronik Entwicklung GmbH . High-resolution device features more than 10,000 calibrated RGB colors and an extended command set. The switches have more than 100 brightness settings per color channel that reportedly offer the best color resolution and highest display resolution (64 x 32 pixels) available.

An extended command set is said to allow for flexibility and switch control. Users can also control LCD bias, refresh, and drive current. Backlighting and display can be turned off without losing bitmap data.

SB6432 line incorporates the features of the other switches in SA series. Internal electronics control backlighting, display, and communications, reducing external hardware needs. A 20-wire SPI controls the interface. Switches self-initialize and self-generate the clock signal when no data transfer is taking place.

Keys are said to be the only LCD switches that use true RGB colors, not just single red, green, and blue LEDs. Switches use proprietary Advanced Technology electronics for backlighting control and are calibrated to produce the same color in each switch for uniform color in large switch panels.

Switches are available from stock from [E3] in Germany or through partner distributors worldwide.
