If you have cyber security responsibility for your plant, or think that you might, here’s an event that you should consider seriously. The Process Control Systems Forum (PCSF) is all about security for industrial applications, and the annual meeting is an excellent opportunity to meet with like-minded people and share experiences. ( Click here to hear comments from Sean McGurk , director of the control systems security program for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Timing: 3 minutes.)

The PCSF annual meeting will be August 26-28 in La Jolla, CA, and aims to provide end-users with tactical and strategic solutions to their most pressing control system security concerns. The organization is truly vendor agnostic, drawing much of its sponsorship from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), National Cyber Security Division (NCSD), and Control Systems Security Program (CSSP). The PCSF supports CSSP’s mission to focus collaborative efforts of public, private, and international entities to secure control systems cyberspace in support of the National Infrastructure Protection Plan.

The program will follow four tracks:

1. Understanding risk: Self assessment, threat identification, vulnerability assessment, vulnerability awareness;
2. Requirements and operational considerations: Business case, incident response, implementation guidance, security policy framework, security plan, security requirements, standards;
3. Architecture and design: Access control, application security, interconnections, network; and,
4. Devices and components: Communications security, data security, field device security, perimeter devices, remote access.
