Magnet motor line uses permanent magnets
Marathon Electric SyMax motor line uses a permanent magnet design to improve energy efficiency.
Marathon Electric magnet motor line, SyMax was introduced at the EASA Convention in Denver, Colo. The SyMax motor uses a permanent magnet design that makes it more efficient than a traditional induction motor, the company said.
Dean Nienhuis, Marathon Electric director of marketing, said, "The combination of magnets and motors will provide increased efficiencies and advanced control features."
Currently there are two SyMax models available – SyMax FHP (NEMA 48 frame) and SyMax IHP (182-215T frame). This series of motors incorporates a radial flux design, which reportedly delivers high torque, high efficiency and increased power density, providing system maximization and the potential to eliminate sheaves and belts, gearboxes and chains in certain applications. SyMax also features the patented Max Guard insulation system and IP54+ rated enclosures for long motor life in strenuous environments.
SyMax-i FHP has IntelliDrive, an embedded electronic control system with proprietary algorithms allowing the power to be easily controlled while maintaining a high efficiency level. It is expected to be available later this year.
