Mathcad 13, newest version of Mathsoft Engineering & Education’s calculation management software, captures and reuses knowledge locked in engineering calculations. It allows engineers to document and capture calculations, design intent, analyses, and engineering-critical values while they create them. Software is said to provide an option to cryptic and error-prone spreadsheets and save time and effort of developing custom applications that can be too complicated for most calculation jobs.

Enhanced features are designed to streamline critical engineering tasks. Included are powerful "provenance" capabilities to help determine conclusively the source of a particular calculation, value, or result, ensuring work is fully traceable and auditable. Editing features offer improved right-click power and the ability to drag groups of worksheet regions to new documents. Software provides enhanced math functions, solvers, and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) compliant math operations for numerics, optimized curve fitting, and linear algebra solvers. For the first time, Mathcad 13 supports non-linear units, such as Fahrenheit, Celsius, and decibels. New communication features promote collaboration and information sharing.

Mathcad 13 is a key component of Mathsoft Calculation Management Suite, said to help designers and engineers create and capture valuable engineering calculation information that the suite centrally manages for reuse, auditing, oversight, publishing, and collaboration throughout the development process. It includes improved backwards compatibility with worksheets produced by older versions of the software, enabling smooth migration to Mathcad 13 and sustaining the value of existing calculations and worksheets. www.mathsoft.com
