Dorval, Quebec, Canada – Matrox Imaging’s prototyping tool for scientific and industrial imaging, Inspector 4.0, includes tools to help OEMs and integrators develop applications.

Inspector 4.0 incorporates new and enhanced features from Matrox Imaging’s latest version of its software development toolkit, Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) 7.0, including a tool for geometric pattern recognition. Model Finder quickly and accurately locates a model – or multiple models – at any position, at any angle, at any scale from 50-200 percent, and under such harsh conditions as occlusion and non-uniform changes in contrast.

Inspector’s Relative Region tool simplifies multi-step inspections by creating automatic and intelligent links between the results of location operations and subsequent measurement operations. For example, object location information (position, angle and/or scale) from Model Finder can be used to automatically determine and place a search region for the Edge & Stripe measurement tool.

Also new to this Microsoft Windows application is ActiveMIL Builder. With the click of a button, this code generation tool translates actions within Inspector into source code for Visual Basic using ActiveMIL. Bundled with MIL, ActiveMIL is a collection of ActiveX controls for managing image capture, processing, analysis, display and archiving.

The source code generated by ActiveMIL Builder is ready to run from within Visual Basic. The required project is easily created and the ActiveMIL controls are automatically configured with the proper settings. Once the project is generated by ActiveMIL Builder, it can be edited within Visual Basic to include custom code for managing the user interface, communication, networking, I/Os, motion control, etc., or the project can be automatically merged with an existing project that already includes this custom code.
