China’s Baogang Group subsidiary Barun Mining Co., has selected Proficy Process Systems for use in its iron mining business in China. The company says it chose GE’s solution to facilitate product quality improvement, optimize production and reduce cost.

Baogang is one of the largest equipment manufacturers in China, and is involved in the construction of metallurgical, infrastructural facilities, and other industrial projects. The company also provides geo-technical engineering construction, industrial and civil construction, rock and earthwork excavation, equipment installation, steel structure fabrication, and installation services.

"GE continues its strategic drive and expansion in the process automation space," says Steve Ryan, general manager for GE Intelligent Platforms’ process and safety business. He characterizes Proficy Process Systems as a scalable, fully integrated system for process automation and control. Its architecture leverages the best of GE’s hardware and software platforms to provide a system suited for rugged mining operations control. Barun Mining is using the system to record process data for the whole plant.

"We wanted a control system to improve efficiency and product quality," says Dongziqing, vice president of Barun Mining Corp. "The Proficy Process System’s high availability and forward-thinking architecture will enable us to increase our productivity."

Proficy Process Systems provides a single control environment with comprehensive engineering and operator functionality in a user-friendly system. The company says its open architecture reduces lifecycle cost through precise calibration and secure electronic configuration.
