Mobile robotics company expands into North American market

Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) announced that it has opened a U.S. office and its autonomous mobile robot, the MiR100, will be available to North American companies. The MiR100 is designed for small-task indoor transportation of items in the manufacturing and healthcare markets.

Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) announced that it has opened a U.S. office with Ed Mullen (right) leading as vice president of sales for North America. The company will be launching the MiR100 autonomous mobile robot, which is designed for the manufacturinMobile Industrial Robots (MiR) announced that it has opened a U.S. office and its autonomous mobile robot-the MiR100-will be available to North American companies. Already in use in 19 countries, the MiR100 advanced autonomous mobile robot is designed for small-task indoor transportation of items in the manufacturing and healthcare markets. Programming and operation happen through an intuitive interface accessible via a smartphone and tablet app (iOS and Android) or PC application in just a few hours without additional implementation costs. The robot can either identify its drive area and surroundings or import 3D drawings of the building layout. Built-in sensors and cameras enable the MiR to be used for safe collaborative operation in an environment with people as it automatically stops and routes around obstacles. MiR100 has a carrying capacity of 220 lb. and can tow 660 lb.

MiR has also appointed Ed Mullen as vice president of sales for North America. Mullen has more than 28 years experience within industrial automation, most recently serving as vice president of sales and marketing at Simplimatic Automation. He began his career at Micron as a designer, but then moved to sales. He directed sales for Universal Robots (UR) when it entered the North American market in 2012.
