ICS Triplex ISaGRAF has recently announced a new motion-control toolkit designed to offer advanced development tools for efficient motion-control applications “within the IEC 61131-3 programming environment.” The toolkit incorporates what ICS Triplex ISaGRAF calls “normative motion control functionalities,” based on published recommendations of PLCopen . Moreover, the full set of PLCopen’s function blocks for motion control are integrated into ISaGRAF’s toolset.

Users benefit from two aspects of standardization—in programming languages and in the interface for different motion-control solutions—plus from hardware independence and reuse of software, according to ICS Triplex ISaGRAF.

“While a fair number of our customers are already using ISaGRAF in motion applications, we are now offering a standardized approach to motion control, which will certainly reduce costs and improve training for those who are involved in motion control and robotics applications,” says ICS Triplex ISaGRAF managing director, Julien Chouinard. “PLCopen’s contribution in issuing a reference document made it easy to implement a cost-effective, field-proven motion control solution that allows third parties to integrate their core expertise into ISaGRAF.”

PLCopen awarded a certificate of compliance to its motion-control specification to ICS Triplex ISaGRAF, after the development of this motion-control solution.
