Motion, logic controllers for integrated solutions
ServoWire motion and logic controllers from Ormec come in three models: SMLC-30 (controls up to 3 axes), SMLC-80 (controls up to 8 axes), and SMLC-160 (controls up to 16 axes). |
Rochester, NY —ServoWire motion and logic controllers (SMLC) from Ormec are intended for integrated motion, I/O, and networking solutions. They come in three new models: 30, 80, and 160, feature a small footprint, and use Pentium processors, FireWire drive networking, and Ethernet connectivity.
Reported as a system to control an entire machine, SMLC replaces a motion controller and PLC combination with a single unit that can control up to 16 axes and thousands of I/O points. It combines Ormec’s Soft Motion technology with IEC 61131-3 programming, PLCopen motion function blocks, and industry standard protocols for network connectivity.
Key features include rugged hardware with all-metal enclosure and no fans; removable Compact Flash for program storage; two Ethernet ports and three or four serial ports; Modbus/TCP communications for interfacing I/O points and touchscreen HMIs; and PC/104+ expansion slots for other factory networks. IEC 61131-3 application programming offers any of the five standard languages. PLCopen motion function blocks and Ormec extensions allow for multi-axis, coordinated motion, registration control, and more.
Ormec provides PC-based motion-control and networked servodrives. The company manufactures motion control systems that integrate motion controllers, logic control, drives, motors, and FireWire-based networking.
