MTS Systems selling engine test division to Tokyo-based A&D

Eden Prairie, MN—MTS Systems Corp. reports that it has agreed to sell its Powertrain Tech-nology division to A&D Co., Ltd., located in Tokyo, Japan.

Eden Prairie, MN— MTS Systems Corp. reports that it has agreed to sell its Powertrain Tech-nology division to A&D Co., Ltd., which is located in Tokyo, Japan. This division is based in Ann Arbor, MI, and reportedly represents less than 5% of MTS’ revenue and assets for the current year. Terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed.

MTS supplies test systems and industrial position sensors. Its testing hardware and software help users accelerate and improve design, development, and manufacturing processes, and are used for determining the mechanical behavior of materials, products, and structures. The company’s position sensors provide controls for a variety of industrial and vehicular applications. MTS had 1,615 employees and revenue of $367 million for the fiscal year ending Oct. 2, 2004.
