Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. announces a new line of NEMA Premium efficient motors with aluminum rotors. These new motors help customers meet the year 2010 mandatory efficiency requirements of the 2007 Energy Independence & Security Act and provide higher efficiency at a lower cost. The motors offer the same horsepower and rugged housing as Siemens’ copper rotor-based NEMA Premium motors and also meet the efficiency requirements of many states’ utility rebate programs, such as the Sacramento Utility District (SMUD) Motors and Process Improvement Incentives and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) Motor Drives Incentives programs. Designed for original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and customers who want an economically priced NEMA Premium motor, the new motors expand Siemens’ industrial line of motors and provide another energy efficient choice for customers who do not require the extraordinary efficiency of copper rotors. They are available in general purpose, severe duty, IEEE 841, modified, and custom-built motor configurations. www.sea.siemens.com
