Nematron Corp. agreed July 10 to purchase Optimation Technology Inc. in a stock transaction scheduled to close on Sept. 30. The acquisition is expected to improve earnings and expand sales for Nematron’s PC-based control solutions and Optimation’s engineering and systems integration services. The firms add the acquisition will help Nematron secure more major programs outside the automotive industry because Optimation will give it extensive installation and post-installation support capabilities and more vertical market expertise. Besides supporting PC-based projects, Optimation will continue to provide independent mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineering and system integration services for process and manufacturing applications. In other news, Nematron completed its purchase of A-OK Controls Engineering Inc. (Auburn Hills, Mich.) on July 5. A-OK will continue to provide integration services for Nematron products and those of other automation vendors.
