NetDecoder is an industrial protocol, data and timing analyzer for Ethernet, serial, and fieldbuses from Frontline Test Equipment (Charlottesville, VA). A fully integrated solution for troubleshooting network protocol problems, NetDecoder simultaneously captures, decodes, filters, and displays data, as well as detects protocol errors, all in real time. Besides providing a common user interface across serial, Ethernet, and fieldbuses, it also decodes protocol information on most leading communication buses. Frontline worked with Woodhead Connectivity (Northbrook, IL) on some development. Co-marketing ended in November 2002.
Serial protocol decoders currently supported include Modbus RTU, Modbus ASCII, Allen-Bradley DF1/PCCC, DNP3, and COMLI. Available fieldbus protocol decoders and associated data-capture modules include Allen-Bradley DH485, Data Highway Plus, DeviceNet, and CAN 2.0A. Available industrial Ethernet protocol decoders include Modbus/TCP, EtherNet/IP that includes CIP and PCCC, Allen-Bradley CSP, and DNP3. NetDecoder runs on any Microsoft Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP-compatible PC. In a standard RS-232 configuration using two standard PC serial ports, the product supports serial data rates up to 115.2 kbps.
