New CompactPCI single-board computer from GE Fanuc
CPCI-7055 single-board computer from GE Fanuc Embedded Systems combines a powerful IBM processor with a powerful system controller. |
GE Fanuc Embedded Systems Inc. (part of GE Fanuc Automation) recently announced availability of CPCI-7055 PowerPC-based CompactPCI single-board computer (SBC).
CPCI-7055 uses IBM 750GX PowerPC microprocessor, offering processing speeds of 800 MHz or 1.0 GHz. Moreover, the SBC’s next-generation Marvell Discovery III MV64460 PowerPC chipset is an integrated system controller designed for high-performance embedded control applications, said to be ideal for most Internet applications.
“CPCI-7055 is the flagship of our PowerPC CompactPCI architecture line,” says Rod Rice, vice president–engineering, GE Fanuc Embedded Systems. Features of the single-board computer include:

Up to 64 MB flash memory (socketed or soldered-down banks of flash are jumper-selectable for booting purposes);

Up to 2 GB of DDR 400 SODIMM memory with ECC support;

Support for three 10/100/1000 Ethernet LANs;

IDE interface for hard-disk drive support allowing support of several types of data transfers;

Available Linux and VxWorks BSP;

Support for IEEE 1386.1 PCI common mezzanine card specification with two mezzanine card expansion sites; and
-
A CompactFlash socket connected to the IDE controller’s primary interface.
Bandwidth through the system controller is maximized by use of 2 MB SRAM as a revolutionary “cross-bar fabric switch,” allowing “any-to-any” connectivity of up to 100 Gbit/s of aggregate throughput, with non-blocking concurrent connections among all peripheral channels at full bus speeds, says the company.
