New direct `push-in’ connecting system for terminal blocks

By Control Engineering Staff June 14, 2002

Hannover Fair – Weidmüller Interface GmbH & Co. presented for the first time its “Push In” system, a new type of contact system to directly connect solid conductors. The conductor is stripped and then pushed into the clamping unit as far as it will go. It opens the terminal without the use of any tools, which saves installation time and costs. The connection is reliable, vibration-resistant and gas-proof. The maximum clamping range covers a conductor diameter from 0.75 to 4 mm2.

Finely stranded conductors between 1 and 4 mm2can also be inserted but the clamping unit must first be opened with a conventional screwdriver. To remove a connected conductor, the clamping unit must also be opened with a conventional screwdriver.
